N.B. -the Met has a lovely small Egyptian temple on permanent display,
granted as part of the UNESCO rescue project during construction of the
Aswan dam. Well worth a look, it's said to be best viewed at night. The
Egyptian wing of the Met is worth viewing anytime.

sarcophagi, and small items. This collection is often overlooked by
visitors, as, understandably enough, the Greek objects take precedence
both physically (the room is upstairs, in a rear corner) and
emotionally.

National Museum of Antiquities

Recently reopened, this museum has one of the best collections of
Egyptian artifacts in the world.. Also visit the small Temple of Taffa,
once dedicated to Isis, and which is now, after a stormy career which
included being knocked down by a ship before the UNESCO rescue,
reerected at the Museum.
